ADCES Names Wendy Mobley-Bukstein 2025 Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists has announced Wendy Mobley-Bukstein, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES, CHWC, NASM-CPT, FAPhA, FADCES as the recipient of the 2025 Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year Award, sponsored by Xeris Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

August 10, 2024, CHICAGO, IL—The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES®) is pleased to announce that Wendy Mobley-Bukstein, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES, CHWC, NASM-CPT, FAPhA, FADCES has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year Award. This award is sponsored by Xeris Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Mobley-Bukstein is a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and clinical pharmacist at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Des Moines, Iowa where she provides direct patient care as well as education and mentoring for the next generation of pharmacists. She currently teaches in the diabetes concentration at Drake University’s College of Pharmacy working with 100 students over the four-year graduate program. Mobley-Bukstein has strived throughout her career to find innovative solutions to improve patient care and has provided extensive community service working with underserved populations. Her most recent contributions to the field of research have focused on improving outcomes for older adults with diabetes and improving equitable use of continuous glucose monitors in underserved populations.

The Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year Award honors a diabetes care and education specialist who has made a special contribution to the field through dedication, innovation and sensitivity in care. In addition to her many other contributions, Mobley-Bukstein’s ADCES service has included serving on the annual planning committee, the technology standing committee, professional practice committee, and advocacy committee, as well as working on with the ADCES Education Curriculum 3rd edition and articles for ADCES in Practice. 

“My deep passion for my profession as a pharmacist and my commitment to helping those with diabetes drive me every day,” said Mobley-Bukstein. “This award is recognition of the dedication and hard work that I put in; it is also a reminder that EVERY small thing you do adds up to something meaningful. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve ADCES and people with diabetes.”
