Guidance for Attaining the CDCES Credential
Highlight your expertise by attaining the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist credential (CDCES), formerly called the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), credential. This is for health care professionals with extensive knowledge and experience in prediabetes, diabetes prevention and management.
The CDCES credential is administered and maintained by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, which also determines eligibility requirements. If you’re interested in becoming certified, we can help you prepare for the exam and earn continuing education (CE) credits to maintain your credential.

Core Concepts Course Live

BC-ADM Credential
Certification for Advanced Diabetes Practitioners
If you’re a practitioner who provides advanced diabetes management, you’re eligible to attain the Board Certified - Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM®) credential. This is for practitioners who adjust medications, treat and monitor acute and chronic complications, provide lifestyle modification counseling, address psychosocial issues, and participate in research and mentoring within their scope of practice.
Health care professionals who are Board-Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) have passed a rigorous national exam and have demonstrated expertise in diabetes management.
As of January 1, 2025, the credential is being managed by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE). To inquire about taking the exam, visit their BC-ADM transition page.
