Guidance and Study Materials for Attaining the CDCES Credential

The Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist credential (CDCES), formerly called the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), is for health care professionals with extensive knowledge and experience in prediabetes, diabetes prevention and management.

The CDCES credential is administered and maintained by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, which also determines eligibility requirements. If you’re interested in becoming certified, we can help you prepare for the exam and earn continuing education (CE) credits to maintain your credential.

Core Concepts Course Live

Explore the basics of diabetes care and education along with tools and strategies for assuring successful outcomes of the ADCES7 Self-Care Behaviors®. Many participants use this course as part of their preparation for the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) exam. BC-ADM Credential

Certification for Advanced Diabetes Practitioners

Health care professionals who are Board-Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) have passed a rigorous national exam and demonstrated expertise in diabetes management. Within their scope of practice, they adjust medications, treat and monitor acute and chronic complications, provide lifestyle modification counseling, address psychosocial issues, and participate in research and mentoring.

As of January 1, 2025, the credential is being managed by The Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE). To inquire about taking the exam, visit their website at cbdce.org/bc-adm-transition.
