Empowered and Inspired: My Unforgettable Experience at ADCES24

Apr 2, 2025, 09:51 AM

By Lacie Peterson, PhD, RDN, BC-ADM, CDCES, FADCES, FAND

Attending the ADCES conference is always one of the highlights of my year, and thanks to the ADCES Foundation Scholarship, I had the opportunity to experience ADCES24 in New Orleans, LA. This event is more than just a conference, it’s an invaluable experience that combines cutting-edge education, meaningful networking, and hands-on engagement with the latest advancements in diabetes care.

One of the biggest draws of the conference is the incredible educational sessions. From in-depth discussions on the latest diabetes technology to thought-provoking panels on hot topics in the field, there’s always something new to learn. I had the privilege of moderating a session on the pros and cons of BMI, which sparked important conversations about how we approach weight and health in diabetes care. In addition, I walked away with valuable updates on diabetes-related technology, helping me stay ahead in my practice.

But it’s not just about education; it’s about community. The networking opportunities at ADCES are unmatched. Connecting with Diabetes Care and Education Specialists from across the country fosters collaboration, idea-sharing, and new friendships. Both seasoned professionals and those new to the field can make life-changing connections at the ADCES national conference.

And, of course, the exhibit hall is always a highlight! Getting hands-on experience with the latest products, innovations, and tools helps bring knowledge to life in a way that enhances our ability to support people with diabetes.

I can’t wait until ADCES25!

Consider donating to the ADCES Foundation so more diabetes care and education specialists can have a similar experience. Any amount counts!
