AADE15 Sessions on Demand

nfortunately, I was unable to attend the AADE meeting in New Orleans this year. It conflicted with going to children’s diabetes camp, and I sure cannot miss that!
As I reviewed the program, there were a number of sessions I was sorry to miss and believed the information could enhance my knowledge, and therefore, my practice.
Lucky for me, I was urged to try the virtual program! What a great way to pick and choose continuing education for a very reasonable cost—less than two nights in the hotel!
I signed up, logging into the AADE website and clicked on my profile, then on to My Learning. You can purchase the AADE15 Sessions on Demand package and choose from a wide variety of presentations to watch at your leisure AND get credits!
The choice of topics includes the pathophysiology of prediabetes and early treatment considerations, inpatient glycemic management, cardiovascular effects of the diabetes drugs, diabetes self-management education tips, culinary medicine and the artificial pancreas to name just a few.
Sessions on Demand are a GREAT way to gain world class information at minimal cost.
After obtaining the package, it was merely finding the time to sit down and click on the session I wanted to “attend.” As much as I get tired of being on my computer — it was such a great way to access knowledge and credits!
Although my practice is mostly focused on type 1 diabetes and inpatient management, I attempt to stay abreast of the latest medications and technology available for all diabetes management. The number of new medications arriving on the market, along with the progress towards the artificial pancreas are mind boggling—this while many employers are cutting back on financial support to attend educational meetings. Sessions on Demand are a GREAT way to gain world class information at minimal cost.
I missed networking with colleagues around the country, volunteering to review posters or be a moderator at a session. I plan to attend AADE16 in San Diego next year. But if something gets in the way, I will definitely sign up again for the virtual program, the next best thing to being there!
Anyone else try it?
