Description
This webinar will educate and equip clinicians to work effectively with diabetes devices in their clinical practices. This first session will focus on insulin pumps and how to determine insulin pump settings when transitioning a person with type 1 diabetes (T1D) from multiple daily injections (MDI) to an insulin pump. We will review the basics of insulin pump therapy and basal and bolus pump settings, discuss the different pump models that are currently available in the United States, and review use of the PANTHER Program’s NEW Insulin Pump Settings Tool to determine insulin pump settings.
Learning Outcome
The overall goal is to learn the basics of insulin pump therapy and how to determine insulin pump settings for any insulin pump in manual mode.

At the end of this presentation,
participants will be able to:
-- Describe the basics of insulin pump therapy and the insulin pumps available in the United States.
-- Understand the three main options for calculating starting insulin pump settings for a person with T1D.
-- Work through examples using the PANTHER Program Insulin Pump Settings Tool to help determine pump settings for a person with T1D transitioning from MDI to any insulin pump.
