Ana Olivas, CMA (AAMA), DPP has been an ADCES® member for four years. We asked Ana about her experiences as part of the ADCES community and how membership has impacted her life and career.
Why do you love being an ADCES member?
Being a member of ADCES has provided me with education and training that I need to fulfill the duties of my position as a Diabetes Program Specialist working with a Native American tribe.
What is your favorite part about being a diabetes care and education specialist?
I am proud to be able to educate patients about the prevention and management of diabetes.
Top five ADCES resources/programs?
The ADCES Annual Conference, ADCES online learning, Spanish language resources, ADCES DPP Lifestyle Coach Training, ADCES' Work in Prevention.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a new diabetes care and education specialist or someone considering the profession?
Always be well informed about the prevention and management of diabetes so that you can provide the best patient education to help the person in need.
