Bridget Wood, RDN, LD, CDCES has been an ADCES® member for a total of about three years. She shares a few thoughts about her membership experience.
What does ADCES membership mean to you?
Membership means collaborating with others in the field in order to be the best providers and advocates we can for the communities we serve by staying connected to the latest and greatest in the diabetes field!
What is your favorite part about being a diabetes care and education specialist?
Being able to connect and give back to my own diabetes community. As someone living with type one diabetes, it provides another level of care when you live with the disease and a way to relate to patients that not everyone can provide.
Top 5 ADCES resources/programs?
1. Annual Conference 2. The diabetes technology information on danatech 3. Patient resources (especially in Spanish!) 4. Free continuing education 5. ADCES In Practice
What would you say to a new diabetes care and education specialist or someone considering the profession?
Thank you! Thank you for choosing to be a champion for people living with diabetes. It may not always seem like much, but our interactions with patients can make a world of difference in determining their experiences with managing the disease.
