Why do you love being a member/what does membership mean to you?
I love the practice resources and opportunities to connect with other CDCESs in my area. I'm better able to keep up with best practices and changes in diabetes care because of my involvement in ADCES.
What is your favorite part about being a diabetes care and education specialist?
I love the challenge of making complex concepts easily understood, working with patients to solve problems and introducing them to life-changing technology.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a new diabetes care and education specialist or someone considering the profession?
I recommend networking. It's fun to exchange ideas and learn from others who have been in practice for longer. There are many tips and tricks to be learned from experienced diabetes care and education specialists. In working with patients, my best advice is to become a good listener and seek to truly understand a patient's needs.
