Why do you love being a member?
ADCES helps keep me up to date on all things diabetes! I love being a member of an organization that is well known for being the leading association dedicated to diabetes care and education. I feel more confident in my knowledge of diabetes because of the education and resources provided by ADCES.
What is your favorite part about being a diabetes care and education specialist?
One of my favorite things about being a diabetes care and education specialist is helping patients come up with small sustainable healthy lifestyle changes that help improve their overall quality of life. Many times, patients come in feeling overwhelmed and scared. I break things down and help them feel confident and empowered to manage their diabetes while still enjoying their life.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a new diabetes care and education specialist or someone considering the profession?
Get involved early on! Dive right in and learn as much as you can, network, volunteer, and do not be afraid to ask questions. I have learned so much from my coworkers and from the education and resources provided by ADCES.
